Earning Criteria

ACAT seeks to ensure that all accredited individuals possess theoretical knowledge and the practical knowledge necessary to be successful practitioners. Candidates for the ABA must be at least 18 years of age and must have a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, or two (2) years of college-level accounting and one (1) year professional experience.
Standards
ABA credential holders must earn 40 CPE hours per year. Including 24 hours in accounting or related subjects (finance,business management, technology, business law); plus at least 24 hours in taxation; plus 4 hours in ethics.The remaining hours can be in subjects that relate to yourparticular area of practice or employment.
ACAT credential holders agree to abide by the ACAT Code of Ethics as a prerequisite to holding a credential.
