Earning Criteria

The candidate has demonstrated their understanding of the requirements of BS7909 and BS7671 to temporary power systems. The assessment includes knowledge of earthing and earth electrode design, electrical protection methods, management of temporary systems, generator operation, power quality and circuit design, electrical safety legislation, equipment testing as well as inspection and testing of temporary electrical systems in events and entertainment and related industries.

The candidate has demonstrated to an assessor that they can safely isolate an electrical circuit using the standard LOTO method (Lock-Out, Tag-Out). They have demonstrated the ability to conduct an RCD test using an RCD tester. The candidate has shown an ability to perform basic prospective short-circuit and fault-current tests and can relate the results to the protective devices fitted in the circuit being tested
