Patterns Next Level is a cohort-based virtual course for Band 8 & 9 designers that takes place over a part-time 14-week period with participants from around the world. This course is meant to strengthen a designer’s technical and managerial leadership skills, elevate their career eminence, and expand their internal professional networks.

Earning Criteria

Must be an employee of IBM, and a Designer. Participation is by nomination only. If you're interested in joining this program, please talk to your manager.
Demonstrate strong time management skills by balancing Patterns commitments with normal day-to-day responsibilities; this means attending all live, virtual sessions (and/or watching the replays if unable to attend live) during the program.
Actively engaged in live, virtual sessions by sharing in group discussions, bringing examples to share, and meeting regularly with their coach.
Delivered two lightning talks on their selected topics.
Develop a career plan and portfolio of experience.
Through live session participation, coaching sessions, lightning talk groups and through surveys of their managers, provided proof of understanding and applying the following learning objectives, throughout the program and within their day-to-day work: Business Impact, Growth Mindset, Relationship Development, Craft Expertise, Team Alignment, Negotiation, Storytelling, and Resource Management.
