The Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling - 香港建築信息模擬學會 (HKIBIM) was established in Jan-2009 and currently with over 500 members including 270 Professional Members. A Professional Member (MHKIBIM) can present himself as a Professional BIM Manager. This Professional grade of membership is currently the most widely recognized and accepted BIM professional credentials for BIM Manager or related positions adopted by both public and private projects in Hong Kong construction industry.

Earning Criteria

Committed to uphold and advance the standard of competence of the BIM profession and to promote BIM within the Industry and community.
Possess a Degree or above in relation to Building, Construction and Engineering or as recognized by the HKIBIM Board.
Attended relevant BIM training courses, including in-house training, short BIM courses, and degree courses;
Demonstrated a minimum 2 years of Building Information Modelling (BIM) working experience includes planning, designing, administrating and operating of BIM projects.
Committed to abide by the HKIBIM Professional Code of Conduct
Passed the membership assessment interview by the institute.
Supported the sustainability of the Institute by paying the prescribed annual subscription fee on time.

Standards

BIM Standards

This Hong Kong BIM standard focus on the architectural and structural models in the stages of scheme, preliminary design, detailed design, submission to approving authority, construction, and as-built. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) models would cover up to the scheme and preliminary design stages only.
