IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS)

Earners of the IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) have demonstrated, at a minimum, an intermediate level of experience designing, evaluating, and remediating accessible documents. This credential defines what document accessibility professionals should be familiar with and are expected to know and increase the consistency and quality of document accessibility work.

Earning Criteria

Candidates are required to document 1-2 years of experience in document accessibility roles and responsibilities OR 1 year of document accessibility experience and 8-12 hours of intermediate to advanced structured document accessibility training.
Pass a proctored closed book, 75-question, multiple-choice exam. The pass rate on the ADS Exam is 70%.
Agree to uphold Code of Conduct and Ethics as an accessibility professional.
The ADS is maintained across three years with ongoing professional development, sharing of knowledge, and leadership activities.
IAAP Professional Certifications belong to the individual who has earned and maintained their Professional Certification. IAAP Professional Certifications do not certify an individual's company, or organization's products or services.
