Earning Criteria

The Chartered Professional Engineer has demonstrated independent technical competence in the area(s) of practice described in the "Evidence" section of this badge.
The Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) holds a Degree in Engineering (4 or more years) that meets the requirements of the Washington Accord or has been assessed by Engineers Australia as having qualifications of a comparable standard and level.
The Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) has demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience at the level of a Professional Engineer.
Chartered Professional Engineers have been assessed as competent to the expected standard of an independent practitioner. They are assessed against sixteen competency elements.
Chartered Professional Engineers are committed to ethical practice and are bound to abide by Engineers Australia's Code of Ethics.
Chartered Professional Engineers remain Chartered as long as they remain a member of Engineers Australia and meet audit, professional practice and CPD requirements.
Chartered Professional Engineers are entitled to use the postnominal CPEng next to their name.
