Earners of this badge are members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. These individuals have met their school's qualifications for membership, based on the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, service, leadership, characterm and citizenship. NJHS was established in 1929 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
