The Strategic Initiative Badge is issued to key contributors of a major University project that supports the American Public University System strategic plan for the year. During 2021, this was the Higher Learning Commission Reaccreditation which evaluates the quality of the institution through the HLC Criteria for Accreditation. Stakeholder contributions have resulted in APUS being reaccredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), with the next reaffirmation scheduled for 2030 – 2031.

In 2021, the recipient’s actions in support of our mission made contribution to APUS’s reaccreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. This reaccreditation reinforces APUS’s high academic standards in providing high quality online higher education to learners of all backgrounds, and accepts APUS into the Open Pathway, a track reserved for more mature institutions. The recipient of this badge is to be commended for their time, efforts, and dedication to the mission of APUS and its students.
