Earning Criteria

Score a passing grade on the Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS®) exam
Complete one of the following to be eligible for the exam:
Earn an Associate’s degree and six (6) years experience in healthcare privacy or security management
Obtain the healthcare information management credential (RHIT®) and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in healthcare privacy or security management
Earn a Baccalaureate degree and a minimum of four years experience in healthcare privacy or security management
Healthcare information management credential (RHIA®) and minimum of two years of experience in healthcare privacy or security management
Master's or related degree (JD, MD, or PhD) and two years of experience in healthcare privacy or security management
