Issued by Florida International University (FIU) Continuing, Professional, and Executive Education

Developed by Faculty Leadership and Success, Information Technology, and the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, this badge recognizes fundamental knowledge in using remote teaching technologies to ensure academic continuity. Topics include remote course development; essentials of Zoom; Canvas basics such as navigation, managing assignments and assessments, writing alternative assessments, communicating course content, connecting with students; and following FERPA guidelines.

Earning Criteria

Complete Remote Teach Ready 1 workshop and meet completion and achievement measures outlined in rubric, including: self-reporting and reflection on course design/changes; self-assessment of remote teaching readiness; and reporting remote status of the course in PantherSoft.
The RTR badge can also be earned by successfully completing any of the following related courses: completion of Quality Matters (QM) and/or FIU High Quality certification for a fully online course; completion of Hybrid Certification (Note: Hybrid Master Course Certification does not meet the micro-credentialing requirements); completion of select Hybrid/Tune-up workshops. Each of these courses is assessed by experts in the field and meets or exceeds assessment criteria for the RTR trainings.
