Earning Criteria

Master Certified Enterprise Architects achieve Certification by successfully completing three interviews by other Level 2 or Level 3 Certified Architects, based upon a comprehensive package of information describing project and other experiences. The criteria used to decide on certification include all of the Skills mentioned above. At Level 2, Architects must be able to demonstrate these skills at a "deep" level, having mastered the state of the art.

Master Certified Enterprise Architects must have at least 3 years of Architecture work experience in one or more projects or engagements in which they were accountable for the Architecture aspects and must have performed in the role of Lead Architect on successful architectural engagements/projects that met their acceptance criteria.

Master Certified Enterprise Architects have a variety of experiences that demonstrate their contribution to successful solutions to complex problems covering e.g., people, process, technology, and management, and involving at least four dimensions (products, technologies, services, processes, management, security, governance, etc.) and/or domains (Business, Data, Information, Application, Technology, Security, Integration, etc.)

Master Certified Enterprise Architects have experience producing solutions that involve more than one type of technology and more than one type of architecture.

A Master Certified Enterprise Architect's experience must include the solution lifecycle from strategy, design, and implementation through to completion, enabling the Architect to produce solution designs that are successful.

Master Certified Enterprise Architects must have completed formal training in the discipline of architecture (i.e., methods/frameworks for designing and defining enterprise architectures), either through attendance at a taught course, or through self-study, and are expected to continue to develop their skills and to stay up-to-date with the development of their profession.

Master Certified Enterprise Architects must continually develop their technical and professional knowledge and skills in technology trends, vertical industry sectors, and architecture trends and techniques.

Master Certified Architects must make contributions to the architecture profession; for example, architecture-related publications, research collaboration, development of training, or contributions to standards bodies or professional organizations. They must also contribute to the development of professional architects through teaching, serving on certification boards, coaching, and/or mentoring.

Until June 1 2020 Certification is open to all applicants and there is no requirement for any previous certification. From November 18 2019 we are introducing certification by Milestones in which Candidates must alreday hold valid Open CA Level 2 Professional Communication and Professional Development Milestone Badges plus three Level 2 Experience Profile Milestone Badges, at least two of which must be in Enterprise Architecture
