Earners of the IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) have demonstrated an intermediate contextual and programmatic technical set of skills and knowledge to design, build, and remediate accessible digital content and services. This credential defines what digital accessibility professionals should be familiar with and are expected to know and increase the consistency and quality of web accessibility work.

Earning Criteria

Candidates are required to document 3-5 years of experience in web accessibility roles and responsibilities.
Experience in at least 10 of 13 core web accessibility areas.
Pass a proctored closed book, 75-question, multiple-choice exam. The pass rate on the WAS Exam is 59%.
Agree to uphold Code of Conduct and Ethics as an accessibility professional.
The WAS is maintained across three years with ongoing professional development, sharing of knowledge, and leadership activities.
IAAP Professional Certifications belong to the individual who has earned and maintained their Professional Certification. IAAP Professional Certifications do not certify an individual's company, or organization's products or services.
