Cara used different colors, pictures, and quotes to add meaning to her visual syllabus. To personalize, she included photos and quotes from course readings and even included her own haiku to go along with a picture she took. For her syllabus activities, she divided students into groups and had each group review a section of the syllabus and annotate, and then share with the class. She also had students take a syllabus quiz on the second day of class. She observed that students remembered the syllabus contents and did better on the quiz than in previous semesters. They were also more engaged and asked questions.
