Kelly attended and completed the Syllabus Makeover Challenge workshop as a part of TEP on August 19, 2019. She created a visual syllabus for her ESL 18 and 19 courses that contains images and interactive features such as spaces for students to write their notes and questions, and to exchange contact information with classmates. For her syllabus activity, she did a dictation activity in which students listened and wrote the missing words of the student learning outcomes. The interactive activity encouraged students to focus on the course goals because they needed to listen and write key words. It doubled as a vocabulary activity, allowing students to discuss and check their comprehension of key terms (e.g., "compositions," "feedback," and "strategies"). The classmate contact information section of the syllabus helped students to see each other as potential sources of support. It also helped quieter students make connections with their classmates.
