AFS Global Up Americas is a groundbreaking virtual exchange program for high school educators. Learners who complete Phase 1 earn the Global Competence Certificate, which features tangible global skills to develop and teach in the classroom, including two exclusive modules in Globally Competent Teaching and Teaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This program is funded by the Stevens Initiative, which is housed at the Aspen Institute and is supported by the Bezos Family Foundation.

Earning Criteria

20 hours of self-paced video-modules, case studies, quizzes, assignments, reflections and collaborative forum engagement
Solid understanding and application of AFS' core educational goals: self-awareness, awareness of others, managing emotional responses and bridging across differences
Four 90-minute live Facilitated Dialogue Sessions led by an expert Qualified Facilitator of the Global Competence Certificate program
