Sustainable Living

Earners will understand the ecological footprint concept, calculate their footprints using different calculators, and reflect on different ways to reduce their footprints. Earners will practice taking positive actions to reduce their environmental impacts and understand the value and challenges as individuals and as a society. Earners will also develop and justify a sustainable living pledge.

Earning Criteria

Complete Sustainable Living course, consisting of twenty hours of critical reading, analysis, and reflection.

Complete three week long Lifestyle Project to experiment with small changes in the earner's lifestyle that are beneficial to the environment.

Write a personal Sustainable Living Pledge that reflects the earner's values and goals.

Participate in discussion with instructor and peers regarding Sustainable Living Pledge and potential revisions.
Standards
Demonstrate the awareness, attitude, knowledge, and skills required to equitably engage and include people from different local and global cultures. Engage in anti-racist practices that actively challenge the systems, structures, and policies of racism.
Proactively develop oneself and one’s career through continual personal and professional learning, awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses, navigation of career opportunities, and networking to build relationships within and without one’s organization.
