Completion of the ELS Black Belt Certificate demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts and use of tools in a DMAIC Six Sigma project. Black Belt tools include MSA, Process Capability, Non-normal data analysis, multi-variate analysis, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, attribute control charts, and design of experiments. Competencies include leadership, mentoring, project management, influencing teams and stakeholders, and executive-level presentations. Prerequisite: ELS Green Belt Certification.

Earning Criteria

Complete 1 DMAIC Black Belt level project with a minimum cost savings of $50,000 (in addition to a DMAIC Green Belt project prerequisite). Completion of the project occurs with 1) Sign-off of the workbook at each stage gate by the project's mentor and sponsor 2) An executive 7-slider presentation completed with leadership 3) A mentor assessment of the project work that covers 34 skills and 9 leadership qualities and 4) Demonstrated cost savings for 3 months to deliver $50,000 total/year.
