Earning Criteria

• Earner has increased knowledge of the individual phases that make up the design lifecycle. This includes their role and responsibilities as a designer, the importance of Design Management Services, Project & Engineering Design Services, Design Checklists, Review Points and Design Change Guidance.
• Earner has shown an understanding of, and can work within, the quality assurance and validation requirements of the Transversal Design process. They will have gained a working knowledge and understanding of the importance of the Design Authority and will be able to work to the following, required for safe technical design in a marine defence environment: BS8888, ISO9001 and relevant DEF-STAN standards.
• Earner has gained an understanding of, and are able to work to, essential health and safety and risk management requirements.
• Earner has gained an understanding of task management within the project lifecyle. They will Understand the project/task lifecyle, the individual phases that make-up the lifecycle and the primary activities undertaken within each phase. They will have an awareness of estimating and planning techniques and recognise the importance of project risk management and performance monitoring.
• Earner has understood the importance of Information Management, how it is applied and the Documentation/Information Management Systems used to support the business. They have learnt the appropriate use of a variety of digital systems including Vault, Sharepoint, P-Drive and MCWE.
