Earning Criteria

• Earners have interacted with barrier-specific resources, completed a diagnostic activity, and actively utilised their understanding in supporting a student or students to address this barrier and re-engage in learning. The Barriers To LIFE (Learner Engagement in Further Education) programme is designed to support the professional development of Plymouth City College staff.
• Earners have demonstrated their understanding through feedback to an appropriate colleague outlining the actions and outcomes in supporting a student or students to address this barrier and re-engage in learning. • Earners have approached their interactions with students in an inclusive way being conscious of potential signs of trauma.
• Earners have supported student displaying potential signs of trauma with appropriate signposting where applicable.
• Earners have taken into consideration the effect trauma may have had/may be having on a student's behaviour within the classroom, as well as the physical impact on the brain that this may have had on the student if trauma was experienced at a young age.
