Earning Criteria

Working Safely with Hand Tools - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and has demonstrated the usage of a range of non-power hand tools and hand held powered tools. The earner has identified safe working practices for using welding machine, a pedestal drill press, a magnetic mount drill, a metal cut off saw and pedestal and bench grinders, air compressors, generators, oxy acetylene plant and pressure washers.

Manual Handling - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and can identify common factors relating to manual handling operations, recognise hazards and risks associated with manual handling activities and has used safe manual handling techniques.

Abrasive Wheels - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and understands the principles of abrasive wheels, has used hand held and mounted abrasive wheels equipment during work activities.

Confined Space - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and has prepared to enter and work safely in a low risk confined spaces, followed procedures and worked safely and can deal with emergencies.

Working at Height - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and has explained working at height practices, demonstrate work area and equipment preparation techniques to work safely at height and safe working at height working practices, carry out the necessary actions after working at height.

Fire Watcher - The Earner has completed a formal assessment and has defined relevant factors associated with the role of a fire watcher and methods of minimising risks, the procedures tasks and actions to be taken in the event of a fire on site, prepared for fire fighting activities and used safe fire fighting techniques.
