Earning Criteria

• Earner has attended a Smart Citizens Programme training at Fab Lab Plymouth. While taking part in this training, the earner has learnt how to independently use a laser cutter and has demonstrated their learning through an assessment.
• Earner has learnt how to safely operate the laser cutter, following health and safety requirements. Earner has demonstrated knowledge of this learning through independently using the laser cutter following correct health and safety protocols.
• Earner has learnt which materials can be used on the laser cutter. Earner has demonstrated knowledge of this learning through selecting appropriate materials for use on the laser cutter.
• Earner has learnt how to correctly prepare their work for the laser cutter from a 2D digital file. Earner has demonstrated knowledge of this learning through preparing a file and independently setting up the laser cutter with the file.
• Earner has learnt how to correctly set up, calibrate, and operate the laser cutter. Earner has demonstrated knowledge of this learning through independently setting up and operating the laser cutter for a range of processes.
• Earner has demonstrated their learning through successfully and independently operating the laser cutter throughout all stages.
• This badge is open to all.
