Earning Criteria

• Earner has participated in a studio and equipment health & safety induction. They applied their active listening skills to retain information on making in the studio, safely.
• Earner has undertaken an introduction to clay as a material including earthenware, stoneware and crank clay properties, the studio recycling process and wedging.
• Earner has participated in an introduction to firing clay and the different ceramic terms including ‘green ware’, ‘bisque’ and ‘glaze ware’. They also had a tour of the kiln room.
• Earner has learned and practised hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, slab building and modelling.
• Earner has learned and practised slip decoration techniques including: painting, slip trailing, graffito, inlay, transfer printing, wax and paper resists.
• Earner has undertaken an introduction to glazes, glaze techniques and the use of oxides. Earner has learned and practised applying glazes and oxides to bisque-fired work.
• Earner has had an introduction to throwing, learning and practising throwing pieces on the potters' wheel.
• Earner has undertaken self-directed time to work on a piece of their own choice. As a result showing their skills in time management.
