Earning Criteria

• Earner has engaged in discussion, debate and sharing of best practices both within the industry and as consumers. Earner has communicated effectively within a peer group to discuss being a mindful food citizen and built their confidence to share and speak in a group social action setting.
• Earner has inspired their peers by sharing personal beliefs, tips, and strategies to decrease their carbon footprint through various choices as a food and drink consumer.
• Earner has researched and learned about volunteering and work opportunities within the sustainable food/farming industry. This has helped the earner to focus on employability and job readiness.
• Earner has demonstrated their skills in peer support by listening to other peoples' viewpoints and ideas and providing supportive feedback.
• Earner has learnt about major negative practices within the food chain, which have a negative impact on carbon emissions e.g. carbon release through trawler fishing. They have been open-minded and willing to learn.
• Earner has researched modern tools and apps to support their learning and journey to becoming a more conscious food and drink consumer. This has aided the earner to practise applying what has been learnt and to become more engaged with personal development.
• Earner has participated in a practical session making breads from UK grain, learning new food preparation skills using sustainable ingredients to make both yeasted and unleavened breads. They have followed food safety best practice and proved to be able to follow instructions and work safely.
