Earning Criteria

• Earner has attended a Smart Citizens Programme business and technology course. While taking part in this training, the earner has gained an understanding of sustainable approaches to design and how CAD can support the prototyping process.
• Earner has developed knowledge of sustainable approaches to materials and manufacturing processes.
• Earner has developed knowledge of the different Environmental Frameworks that can be used to assess and audit the environmental impact of a business’ activities.
• Earner has gained an understanding of the complex issues surrounding sustainability and the conundrums that can arise when wishing to practice in an environmentally sound and ethical way.
• Earner has gained an understanding of the aims of the Fab Lab network, the different materials and processes that can be used at Fab Lab Plymouth, and how to access local Fab Labs.
• Earner has developed knowledge ​​of how computer aided design can accelerate the process of bringing a physical product to market.
• Earner has gained an understanding of digital design and digital prototyping (DDDP) and how these different processes and softwares can support the development of hardware from concept, ideation, testing, production and, finally, to market.
• Earner has gained a basic understanding of how to protect intellectual property when developing a product.
• This badge is open to all.
