Earners of the Outdoor Education Leader badge have successfully managed groups of students on at least one Ballarat Grammar camp. In the role of an Outdoor Education Leader, they have trained younger Ballarat Grammar students in core skills required for outdoor camping. They have demonstrated the ability to lead younger students in sustainable bush practices, communicate effectively and problem-solve.

Earning Criteria

  • Completion of at least two separate week-long outdoor education camps as an outdoor education assistant leader, training students in core camping routines.
  • Communicate clearly to camping groups, demonstrating correct techniques for putting up and taking down camping equipment, creating hygiene stations and cooking stations.
  • Demonstrate care for the natural environment by role modelling minimal impact camping strategies and sustainable practices with rubbish removal and respect for the environment and habitat.
