This program is a high-impact learning scavenger hunt of sorts for first-year undergraduate Harpur College students. The Edge-Finder program was designed to get students engaged in Harpur College and the University as a whole while they build skills that will give them a professional, academic and personal edge. By completing the Edge-Finder program new Harpur students will gain experiences, develop leadership, communication, and technology skills all while defining their own unique Harpur Edge.

Earning Criteria

Attend a Harpur History informational session and write a reflection on what it means to be a Harpur College student and the overall experience of completing the Edge-Finder program
Get Involved with Student Organizations by attending two student organization events: one within your comfort zone and one outside of your comfort zone. Then write a reflection on the experience, what you learned and how you can use this experience to inform future decisions.
Participate in one of a listing of Harpur Edge Programs or Services and reflect on how Harpur Edge services and programs can support you throughout your time at Binghamton.
Cultivate Holistic Wellness and Awareness by participating in at least one of the programs in campus recreation, residential life, MRC, Q Center, ISSS, SSD or a faith-based organization and reflecting on the experience. Then write a reflection on the experience, what you learned and how it will inform future decision making and coping skills.
Utilize Academic Programs and Services from a list of options and reflect on how engaging in these services can help you going forward.
Connect with Faculty by attending one event from a list of events faculty are hosting.Then write a self-reflection on what you gained from the experience, what you learned and how you can apply the knowledge going forward.
Engage in Harpur Edge Professional Development Programs by attending one or more from a list of opportunities and writing a reflection on the experience and how you can use apply your learning going forward.
Leverage Technology by completing two or more of a list of challenges. Then write a reflection on the skills gained and how you can use them going forward.
Explore experiential learning opportunities by attending one of a listing of campus events and checking in via B-engaged.
