Earning Criteria

Hold at least a 4-year, U.S. bachelor's degree or international equivalent.

Verification of work over 48 months by 1) references from supervisors who have overseen the work over the entire time, or 2) a supervisor within the last 12 months, plus verification of the duration and scope of employment from previous employers.

Documentation of professional practice experience showing independence of actions, depth of work, level of interaction and responsibility for work practicing product stewardship at the professional level (not as a technician) over the 48 months at 50% time or more.

Pass a rigorous certification exam of 150 multiple-choice questions (125 scored questions plus 25 pilot questions).

Applicants, candidates, and certified practitioners agree to uphold the BGC Code of Ethics and must practice ethically.

Recertification requires documentation of knowledge, skill, and ethics requirements every 5 years.
