Locomotive Engineer & Conductor Program
This course is designed to prepare you for pre-employment as a Locomotive Engineer or Conductor candidate at a public transportation provider or freight railroad. The earner of this Badge has successfully completed the basic Railroad course. The learner gained knowledge in NORAC, Hazmat, Safety, and freight operating rules. Also, studied the Federal Railroad Administration rules and regulations, especially, rules pertaining to rest (Hours of service).

Earning Criteria

The student will have knowledge of Railroad structure: parts and layout of the Track: - Different types of equipment both passenger and freight railroads - Varies types of the signals and signal systems, such as ABS, INT, CSS, DCS and PTC.

The student will understand Railroad Assignments and roles (Engineer, Conductor, Assistant Conductor, Dispatcher, Yardmaster, and several different types of management positions). Also, different types of assignments (Yard, Local and Road).

The student will understand the Operating Rules: General rules and regulations - Inspection of equipment and train movement rules - Different types of air test for both trains and engines - Radio and electronic communication rules - Track Car and equipment rules.

The student will understand the different classes of hazmat, switching, placement rules, and FRA restrictions. Also, overview of Emergency Response Guide.
