This program introduces students to the fundamental concepts and skills required by electro-mechanical technicians in manufacturing and a variety of industries. Coursework includes Safety, Shop Math and Measurement, Blueprint Reading, Basic Electricity (AC/DC Circuits), Electrical Fabrication, Mechanical Fabrication, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Basics, Troubleshooting, Electric Relay Control concepts and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Entry requirements into program include passing a vigorous application process including aptitude test, interview screening, background checks are evaluated on a case by case basis, and drug tests are pass/fail with no exceptions.

Shop Math and Measurement: 48-hours - Students learn the basics of measurement, the English and metric systems as well as basic geometry and trigonometry. Students define and discuss measurement types, tolerance and are introduced to the concept of inspection, quality control and classes of fits.

Blueprint Reading: 36-hours – Students gain an entry-level understanding of blue print reading. Students learn all notes, abbreviations, symbols and types of views. Students learn to read and intercept drawings. Additionally, they learn the basics of GD&T.

Workplace and Employability Skills: 12-hours – Students work with a career coach/job developer to learn employability skills. Specifically, students work to develop a resume and hone their interviewing skills. Students are coached through employer interviews and ultimately placed in a job or apprenticeship upon graduating the program.

Personal Finance: 3 hours – Students learn the importance of budgeting, saving and managing their finances. Students learn how to manage their own personal budgets and gain a better understanding of financially planning for the future.

Basic Electricity/Electrical Fabrication: 78-hours – Students learn basic electricity and electrical fabrication. Time is equally divided between basic electricity – AC/DC circuits and electrical fabrication. Students learn the fundamentals of electricity, basic electrical circuits, electrical system wiring, circuit protection and conduit bending and threading.

Electric Relay Control/Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs): 36-hours – Students gain understanding of electric relay control and PLCs. Students will understand control logic and sequencing control as well as programming and wiring PLCs.

Mechanical Fabrication: 36-hours – Students gain an understanding of mechanical fabrication. Students have experience with but not limited to: threaded fasteners, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, etc., as well as pneumatic and hydraulic system fabrication.
