This course covers concepts in microgrid design and optimisation using the modelling software Homer Pro and Homer Grid. Students will learn fundamental aspects of the design of components of a power station that includes hybrid energy generation and energy storage hybrid microgrids as well as economic aspects for estimating costs and returns from the designed microgrid. Distinct features of Homer Pro and Homer Grid software to optimise the microgrid design will be taught.
