Senior Indigenous Community-Based Language Worker

This badge is awarded to Indigenous cultural workers who are bilingually proficient and work with languages—in teaching, in developing teaching resources, and in culturally researching and articulating the development of Indigenous languages in their communities. Awardees are qualified to undertake language teaching and research in the cultural development of languages under elder knowledge authority while engaging with non-Indigenous partners and organisations.

Earning Criteria

You are required to document who you are, your connection to particular people-places, and your previous experience and work with community languages.

You are required to present examples of 4 (or more) completed projects, including a brief description of the outcomes of each project.

You are required to demonstrate your understanding of different language philosophies in modern life. How different visions of what languages are in differing situations are important.

You are required to display outputs from at least 4 projects (e.g. video, audio recording, PowerPoint presentation, written report, etc.).
