The prophet Jeremiah sent a letter of encouragement to the Jewish leaders who had been exiled by the Babylonian king. In the letter, Jeremiah wrote, “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you – pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare will you find your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7) Whatever our circumstances, wherever we find ourselves, we are connected to those around us; those with whom we live and those with whom we work, a reality confirmed by the social and medical sciences.
