In Farming Foundations, you will learn from experts about the basics of successful farming, such as how to prepare your land and soil for planting, how to stay safe, and how to access helpful farming resources. The course is specifically designed to provide foundational information for fruit and vegetable production in South Carolina.

Earning Criteria

Participants will complete a minimum of the five following activities; 1) Soil Test and Web Soil Survey, 2) Fertility Quiz, 3) Farm Safety and Emergency Plan, 4) Tractor Identification and Maintenance Plan, 5) Farm Tools Inventory Identification, 6) Fertilizer and Lime Exercise, 7) Irrigation Quiz, 8) Irrigation System Design, 9) Create a Seed and Transplant Calendar, 10) Consult with Local Extension Agent, 11) Create a Local Harvest Plan, 12) Supply Chain Plan, or 13) Buzzword Quiz.
