This 2 credit hour course is a collaboration between the CCI nursing team and Edgewood College in Madison, WI. It explores the foundation of focused nursing topics and will offer opportunities for comprehensive in-depth analysis and synthesis of content. A central feature of this course is the emphasis on learning hands-on perioperative nursing skills through both on site boot camp and a 12-week precepted learning experience. Content is based on the CNOR job analysis and competency assessment.

Prerequisites include NRS 340, NRS 341, NRS 390, or consent of the instructor. Competitive admission, departmental approval.
Applicants must have successfully completed the first 3 semesters of their pre-licensure training.
This is an elective course with competitive admission. A stated interest in perioperative or surgical care is a non-waivable requirement for the course.
