Standards
The Association for Nursing Professional Development performed a role delineation study for the specialty of nursing professional development. The results of that study are the basis for the NPD-BC certification. The importance of the role delineation study is demonstrated in all activities of the NPD practitioner.
The revised standards differentiate two levels of competencies practiced by NPD generalists and NPD specialists, respectively, which is consistent with the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice for nursing.
