Earning Criteria

The candidate has successfully completed and demonstrated the following:

Importance of health and safety in the workplace and understands relevant aspects of current health and safety legislation and always demonstrated this understanding

Observes any specific safety requirements relating to the preparation and correct use of the materials, tools, equipment and methods of working

Prepare work areas, materials, equipment and tools for measuring, cutting, and applying insulation and cladding

Apply the stone wool and GRP. Cut a 90° elbow bend from the stone wool. Apply the stone wool and glass reinforced plastic to the specified areas.

Apply the cellular glass and polymeric sheet. Cut the cellular glass and polymeric sheet to fit as per specification. Present the templates developed for review

Apply the flexible elastomeric foam sheet. Cut and apply the flexible elastomeric foam sheet to fit as per specification

Apply a horizontal run tee piece. Use the polymeric sheeting to develop a template for the horizontal run. Cut and form the polymeric sheeting to fit a horizontal run of the equal tee piece. Apply the prepared tee piece using galvanised lacing wire as specified. Present the templates developed for review. Check that all alignments and applications have been completed correctly. Reinstate the work area
Standards
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding. NOS are developed by Standard Setting Organisations who consult with employers and stakeholders across each of the UK nations.
