The candidate must always demonstrate an ability to work safely throughout the test.

Earning Criteria

The candidate has successfully completed and demonstrated the following:

Importance of health and safety in the workplace and understands relevant aspects of current health and safety legislation and always demonstrated this understanding

Observes any specific safety requirements relating to the preparation and correct use of the materials, tools, equipment and methods of working

Inspect 4 harnesses and 4 lanyards, record faults on harnesses and lanyards on suitable documentation, select the correct harness and lanyard to use on the task.

Demonstrate correct fitting and adjustment of harness.

Prepare the work area for the working at height activity, barriers and signage put in place. Select and prepare the twin lanyard and inertia reels for use

Access the platform with a selection of tethered tools, use suitable equipment, use 3 points of contact to climb the ladder

Access the platform and connect to inertia reel correctly to platform anchor points
-
Descend from the platform with tethered tools using 3 points of contact and twin Lanyard. Restore the work area and equipment after working at height activities cease
Standards
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding. NOS are developed by Standard Setting Organisations who consult with employers and stakeholders across each of the UK nations.
