Earning Criteria
-
Completion of the course: Digital Thread Concepts and Value Proposition - Develop an awareness of the digital thread (DT), model-based engineering (MBE) and model-based definition (MBD) . Understand & be able to describe the value proposition to your organization for adoption of MBE, MBD and the digital thread. Also be able to describe why source validation and characteristic accountability are important to the downstream consumption of MBD.
-
Completion of the course: CCAT Next Gen Tech Data Packages & MBD Workflows - Develop an intermediate awareness of the digital thread and model-based definition (MBD). Become familiar with technical data packages (TDP), the common file types, and the role, use and definition of derivative files. Be able to describe how to ensure the quality of the derivative files through validation and how MBD workflows affect the development process
-
Completion of the course: Introduction to CAD for Model-Based Design - Understand how to ensure the quality of the derivative files through validation and how MBD workflows affect the development process.
-
Completion of the course: Intermediate CAD for Model-Based Design - Develop the skills to create and publish technical data packages including; 3D PDFs, STEP files, and tool specific formats. Also hone the skills to perform geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) and geometry definition for MBD, and the ability to create dimensions, annotations, and 3D views for assemblies.
-
Completion of the course: CAD Quality and Validation Practices for Model-Based Design - Develop the skills to identify and check defects in a 3D model that would impact downstream model reuse. Learn how to compare different revisions of a native CAD model to identify model changes, and generate CAD quality and validation documentation using advanced software.
-
Completion of the course: Interpreting CAD Quality and Validation for Model-Based Design - Gain advanced skills to view, interpret, and generate CAD quality test reports in PDF format and in advanced software. Develop the ability to prioritize quality issues of 3D models using advanced validation software.
-
Completion of the course: Digital Costing for Model-Based Design - Gain the skills to generate estimates of part manufacturing costs automatically in CAD software. Develop the ability tp make faster, repeatable, and informed design decisions based on cost, and investigate design changes to lower manufacturing cost.
-
Completion of the course: Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for Model-Based Design - Understand and be able to describe how PLM collaboration tools are used to share files and data in the digital thread. Additionally be able to describe how to manage a centralized data repository for MBD data, Technical Data Packages, 3D Work Instructions, and MBD files.
