CSI Certified Construction Specifier (CCS)

CSI Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) certificants are able to prepare written construction contract documents; evaluate building solutions; and communicate those solutions through construction specifications. CCSs understand construction materials. CCSs coordinate the General Conditions and Requirements with technical specifications, and understand the legal principles of the documents they prepare.

Earning Criteria

With a CDT® certification: Experience preparing or coordinating either Division 00 -- Procurement and Contracting Requirements or Division 01 -- General Requirements (in Construction). Minimum of two (2) years' experience in the preparation and coordination of specifications used in construction. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Without a CDT® certification: Experience preparing or coordinating either Division 00 -- Procurement and Contracting Requirements or Division 01 -- General Requirements (in Construction). Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the preparation and coordination of specifications used in construction. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Maintenance of credential is required with 24 continuing education units every three years.
