Firearms Basic (8-Weeks)

This course will introduce students to firearms and cover several areas concerning their use including up-to-date legal issues and case law, use of force considerations, and maintenance and care. The student will experience simulator-based training and complete range qualification. This badge will be earned through CRJ5495 Introduction to Firearms.

Assess critical factors of a shooting situation
Complete a Kansas CPOST approved qualification
Display good decision making
Identify relevant legal issues in a shooting situation

Earning Criteria

Complete 8-week required course
Complete a minimum of four scenario-based situations making the correct assessment per course instructor.
Complete all course exams with a minimum of a 70%.
Complete a Kansas CPOST-approved qualification shoot with a 70% or higher score.
