This course was studied online as self-directed learning in non timetabled student time. The online learning may have been supplemented by a combination of timetabled workshops, tutorials and peer learning sessions. Although students will be signposted to the course at appropriate stages of the taught and research phases it is also available for on-demand learning and to be revisited at any time.
-
At multiple points in the online module there are learning activities to check understanding and the ability to apply learning. This must be successfully demonstrated to progress through the module. Successful completion may be a mandatory requirement as part of some taught and research programmes.

The course covers the role and importance of citing bibliographic references, and how to incorporate the work of other authors into their work correctly without plagiarising. Referencing acknowledges material or ideas produced by others by giving the creator credit for their work. Applying this knowledge and skill in the student’s work will enable readers to evaluate their argument, obtain the original sources and demonstrate the student’s intellectual integrity.
