Earners of the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol have achieved the skills and knowledge required to understand their obligations under the law in NSW. They know and have demonstrated the correct ways to identify customers to whom alcohol service may be refused and to responsibly assist customers to drink within appropriate limits. They are able to assist alcohol affected customers and have shown that they can refuse service to intoxicated customers in a professional manner.

Earning Criteria

Knowledge checks and online assessments, including a visual observation of refusing alcohol service to an intoxicated customer.

Have the skills and knowledge to refuse sale or service of alcohol in a professional manner, state reasons for the refusal, and where appropriate point out signage.

Have the knowledge to provide accurate information to customers on alcoholic beverages according to organisation or house policy and government legislation.

Have the skills to prepare and serve standard drinks or samples according to industry requirements and professional standards.

Have the knowledge to identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused, where appropriate give customers a verbal warning and ask them to leave the premises according to New South Wales legislation and regulations.
