Students participate in experiential learning programs to develop a deeper understanding of how organizations effect change. Students have learned about the history of social movements, the impact of local and global organizations, agencies and their functions, and how to sharpen analytic skills to be effective organizers and leaders. In the process, students will have obtained professional experience to help build a career path in social justice and equity within expansive networks.

Students gain a semester's worth of experience working for governmental agencies, unions, community-based organizations, and others. Activities include advocacy, policy development, research, budget development, professional writing, public speaking, organizing, project planning, and strategic planning.
