Earners of this microcredential can successfully employ both receptive (reading and listening) and productive (writing and speaking) communicative English language skills at the CEFR level of C1 or above. They are able to identify key information from selected texts; conduct a cultural survey and analyze data; revise, edit, and deliver a formal academic presentation to their peers; and prepare and compose an original academic or professional text.

Earning Criteria

Earners prepared and delivered a formal academic presentation—as well as planned, composed, revised, and edited an original academic or professional text. The final version of both the presentation and the composition were assessed by a language professional using a set rubric based on the appropriate CEFR level, and these assessments achieved a “B” grade or higher on the Dalhousie Grade Scale. Earners achieved a grade of 75% or higher in this course overall.
