Earners of the Fish Health Assessment and Diagnostic Procedures Microcredential have demonstrated the ability to use a health assessment scoring matrix and observe fish for their general level of health and welfare. They can identify internal anatomy of a fish, identify common fish parasites, and perform a gross fish necropsy. The earner can prepare tissue samples for lab analysis, which involves preserving samples in formalin and may include loading a tissue cassette.

Earners of this Microcredential used a recognized fish health monitoring matrix to assess videos of 3 species showing clinical signs of health concerns and produced a summary of findings. Earners completed a gross fish necropsy and prepared tissue samples for lab analysis. They identified common external parasites and labelled internal anatomy from photographs. Evidence of the necropsy & tissue sample preparation were collected via video (up to 5 min)
