Earning Criteria

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess a current Criminal Background report.
  • Have Hazardous Materials Awareness Level, NFPA 472 or NFPA 1072 Certification (IFSAC and/or ProBoard).
  • Possess building construction and basic electrical safety knowledge.
  • Possess a professional work experience beyond entry level showing a minimum of five (5) years in a Fire Suppression Organization or Law Enforcement Agency.
  • Recommendation from the Chief of the Fire or Law Enforcement Agency they are currently or most recently affiliated with.
  • Complete Fire Investigator level training course in accordance with NFPA 1033.
  • Successfully complete the Professional Certification assessment examination.
