Introduction to Restorative Practices and Circles

Earners of the Introduction to Restorative Practices and Circles badge will have an understanding of the theoretical basis for restorative practices (social discipline window, fair process, and shame) and will develop the skills to carry out the fundamental practices and strategies that support a classroom or program environment that is built on being a restorative setting, i.e. centering relationship building, community connections and repairing harm in a non-punitive way.

Earning Criteria

Earners must successfully complete the Introduction to Restorative Practices and Circles course and demonstrate proficiency in use of restorative practices strategies through role plays, applied scenarios and answering written examples and questions. This program is offered in partnership with the Neutral Zone. Contact hours: 11
Standards
State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) are hours earned by attending professional development activities provided by SCECH Sponsors and approved by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). These hours can be used for renewal and progression of certificates and licenses issued by MDE.
