Successful career exploration in the 21st century is the ability to effectively learn about yourself - your skills and strengths, your passions and motivations - and careers that match who you are. A person who has spent time exploring careers and themselves in-depth with be internally motivated, driven to accomplishment in their chosen field, and more likely to find long-term success as they are less likely to experience burnout from a career mismatch.

Earning Criteria

Earners will complete an initial assessment to gauge what they may already know about themselves, their preferred careers, and why career exploration & self-understanding are important.
In the Discovering You workshop, earners will learn about the importance of career assessments and explore how to use results from these to align their career goals with their interests, abilities, and personal qualities. Earners will complete the Birkman Career Assessment and at least one other career interest inventory and will discuss their results with a career coach or navigator. Members will complete reflection and action planning assignments based on their career inventory results.
Using their Birkman Career Assessment results, earners will explore potential career fields/industries that match their strengths and interests. Earners will choose one career or field and use job and career search tools to learn more.
Earners will create a personalized action plan to reflect on their career exploration discoveries and work with a career coach to outline their next steps in professional development and pursing a chosen career field.
Earners may complete an accompanying workbook in which they will apply and reflect upon what they have learned in each workshop.
Earners will complete a post-assessment to gauge what they learned about themselves, their preferred careers, and why career exploration & self-understanding are important.
