Intercultural Fluency is a set of skills and attitudes that allows an individual to navigate cultural divides. An inter-culturally fluent person has the ability to work, socialize, and connect with people who have different values than themselves.

Earning Criteria

Collaborated with youth of various cultures and backgrounds to develop an increased awareness of cultural norms, values, and competencies.
Completed an interview assessment with FHI 360 staff. Criteria assessed included naming and describing the 4 sub-competencies of intercultural fluency; explaining the concept of the cultural iceberg; providing examples of community cultural norms explained by the iceberg; self-reflection of personal values; successful communication of cultural awareness and communication in two case studies.
