Successful submission of proof of co-curricular involvement in programming related to each leadership competency.

Successful completion of a 200+ word reflection related to each of the leadership competencies and their respective sub-competencies.

For badge earners after 07/01/2020: Completion of a culminating reflection demonstrating understanding of learning and skills acquired and their applicability to academic, personal, and professional growth.
Standards
Effective communication helps ensure achievement of goals. Student leaders understand how to negotiate conflict effectively; facilitate effectively; and engage in active listening, non-verbal communication, and verbal communication effectively.
Understanding of civic responsibility is developed through recognition and celebration of diverse cultures. Student leaders are motivated to act in a socially just manner; promote diversity and understanding of others' circumstances; engage in inclusive behavior, and understand the value of serving the community and being socially responsible.
Understanding of how group dynamics function in order to successfully lead a team is critical. Student leaders value creating change effectively; understand the process of group development; are aware of organizational behavior and are able to respond to power dynamics effectively.
Interpersonal interactions are critical for successful leadership. Student leaders are able to motivate and empower others; understand how to collaborate effectively; utilize others' contributions effectively and develop productive relationships with others through mentorship and/or interacting with others appropriately.
Development of cognitive thinking abilities enhance decision making and conflict resolution. Student leaders have the ability to understand the value of making decisions appropriate to each situation; understand how to solve problems effectively and can articulate the value of reflecting on experiences to apply learning in the future.
Student leaders must model social responsibility at all times. They value taking initiative; are motivated to follow-through on responsibilities; take responsibility for personal behavior; act in an ethical manner; demonstrate resiliency; have the ability to respond to ambiguity and establish healthy behaviors and satisfying lifestyle habits.
Self-Awareness and Development offer leaders a compass to navigate a variety of leadership situations and challenges. Student leaders understand the importance of acting in alignment with values; are motivated to engage in self-development and possess a willingness to enhance their understanding of self.
Student leadership can play a significant role toward enhancing opportunities following the undergraduate experience. Student leaders have the ability to articulate goals effectively; understand how to develop a mission and vision and are able to identify the importance of professional development.
